Dings Preview

As Saturday is looming and the Old Elizabethans' family turns its eyes towards what will be a momentous test of character. We host Dings on the fields of Hallen, with the spoils having gone to the crusaders on the away leg. It will be time to test their metal in the lion's den under the vengeful eyes of Perkins and his die hard E’s contingent.

Let’s take a look at the side shall we…

With the Bulk of Alfie Hill missing in the front row, James Brooke moves from his usual position as Hooker into the Loose but familiar role in the 1 shirt.

Bailey has to relinquish his role as captain leader legend of the mighty Thundercats, as there is a higher power at play. He slots into hooker with dreams of redemption at the line out keeping him awake.

Some say his Calves are one of Bristols landmarks, but who knows? Greg Ford returns to the action at tight head hoping to please the roaring crowds that don the banks of Hallen.

In the engine room one hairy one not so much, we have the double trouble combo of Horn and Skyner. Both willing to do the hard yards, but both have found themselves with some rangy long metre runs, let’s hope we see some elegance on Saturday from the galloping giraffes.

In the back row the captain returns Burnie will slot in at 6, don’t run too close to this man for fearing of a marauding arm or knee. No one has never quite understood how this running technique is so effective, by my god is it good to watch.

Will Tobin will be in the 7 shirt with hopes that no low hanging heads will find their way into his vision. Herbie takes the 8 shirt after an exceptional performance against the Hill last week, some say he trained in the backpedalling scrum pick ups talent camp in Romania for 6 months, we may need this particular set of skills come Saturday.

Will Appleton finds himself in and around the ruck this Saturday, as the 9 jersey falls to his safe shoulders in the absence of a few regular first team players.

The chairman Swann will be in his not so familiar position at 10, as he himself stated “I have always been a prop forward at heart, it’s a shame I can’t play both at the same time really”

Joe Brock has earned himself the 12 shirt, having shown excellent performance off the bench in the first half of the season. We are excited to see what he can offer.

Ben Barnett takes the 13 shirt, we presume there was no one else available.

In the back field said to have left two big marks on the pitch where he was dragging them on the ground, Luke Jagger takes the right wing spot. On the opposite wing, his partner in crime, both of whom are on a whopping 8 tries this season is Pat Score as we call him. We are hoping for some serious points from either at the weekend.

Matt Carr takes the fullback Jersey, we hope that his magic sticks and tricks are on full display at the weekend, if not at-least he will be as charming as ever.

On the bench we have Ash who will be amiss not to be starting with an excellent performance against Bristol Saracens before Christmas. Joe Watkins the Welsh wizard is set for another anti gas debut, but he does love a break against Dings, we hope to see him make an impact from the bench. And finally big Dicke Thomas fills the last spot quoted to have said “I saw it was Dings, and I just love playing them, try and stop me”.
